ABOUT ME..

Hi there and welcome to my website. My name is Jacque and I’m a UK based artist living in West Sussex. I am very fortunate to be surrounded by the exceptional beauty of the South Downs, which is where I get alot of my inspiration from.

I decided to follow my dream of painting in 2019. The idea was, that I would paint just for me, a kind of therapy to life’s turmoils. I was leaving behind my career in Theatre so that I could be more present with my children. Then the world was hit by the global pandemic. I carried on painting when I could, even though my eldest son was now a permanent fixture on my couch. My work really began to express how I felt inside. Its only on reflection that I can now see the journey I have been on. The yearning for freedom in so many more ways than the physical constraints of the pandemic. Freedom to dream, freedom to be authentically me, freedom to be the artist I have always dreamed of being. The feeling of emerging from darkness to light.

I was working, albeit sporadically, on my living room table. I am very happy to say that I now have a little studio, which I’m so excited to finally have.. I’m looking forward to seeing what effect having my own space will have on my future work.
