“Natures energy in all its forms has been my motivation and my inspiration”
Sussex based artist Jacqueline Newman creates dynamic, rich paintings, using scenes from nature that embrace a sense of magic and mysticism. Her paintings are a contemplation of her inmost worlds, reflecting emotions and ideas in response to relationship and the social, economic and ecological issues of our time. She is intuitively guided by her thirst for meaning and understanding, immersing herself in philosophy, world cultures, indigenous ancient wisdom and the mysteries of consciousness.
“We are not separate from nature, we are nature. When we understand ourselves and make peace with that conflict within us perhaps then we can heal the world we live in”
Jacqueline’s art is predominantly acrylic on canvas, board and paper, although she does incorporate other mediums such as oil and pastel. She explores different paint techniques and uses them in a lively and vivid way. Her work incorporates birds, fish and animals which are considered spirit totems in many ancient traditions and cultures. They are believed to help guide a person and are thought to embody unique characteristics that they share with us. Circles and spheres feature in many paintings burnished with gold leaf, representing totality, wholeness and the original perfection. A symbol of unity.
Much of her work is also available as hand finished limited editions.
